Well, it has been quite a while since I last posted, and I have to say time has flown by.
Last Year, 2019, saw us re-evaluating our lives and scaling down just a little to work on self care and our work life balance. It's not been easy, it never is when you are self employed. If we don't work, we don't eat, it's as simple as that.
Anyway, having enjoyed the summer spending some wonderful weekends at the coast we ended the year with the family spending Christmas all together.
Everything was actually beginning to settle down again, despite Robert being seen for pain and discomfort in his groin area. We thought this could well be an old hernia rearing it's ugly head again and needing some attention. Then in the New Year, 3rd January in actual fact, we were told that the results of all the x-rays, MRI's, bloods and biopsies were in.
The nurse was very clear in explaining everything, and that was great, but we were still not prepared to hear that Robert now has Prostate Cancer. This was a blow we were not expecting. It seems that he now has to face a whole load of other treatment, possible surgeries, along with all the associated prodding and poking.
WHY US? We really don't know why Robert has this to deal with. We do know that there is a family history of Prostate Cancer and his brother has already been diagnosed with this disease. We may never know why we have to go through these trials. Some may say it's a "test", some may say it's "bad luck", we know that God created each and every one of us and he knows the path we will take and the decisions we will make, even if they are not what He has destined for us. We were given free will for a purpose and that's so we can choose to live with God at the centre of our lives, or not. It's entirely up to us.
I often think about how God is feeling about our world and how at times he must just sit with His head in His hands and weep for the sorry state of humanity. None of us knows what's around the corner, but whatever happens, we can be sure that it will be a whole lot better with God than without!
Jesus promises us that He will never leave us or forsake us and we will stand on that promise as He's never let us down yet. Our time on this planet is very short in the greater scheme of things, so we need to make the best of it. If we have been given this additional burden to become a witness to others, then so be it.
We are waiting now for more tests etc to see what the treatment plan will look like but in the meantime, we are praying that God will intervene in whatever way He sees fit.
If you are inclined to pray, please add us to your prayer list. Much Love.
Well, it's been only three weeks since the book was published and already it's being received worldwide. I'm getting messages and emails every day from all corners of the globe. If you are reading this I would love to hear where you are and if you have ever been affected by cancer or have been close to someone who has.
Today was another milestone for me, as I've been invited to be interviewed
on HOPE FM Radio station here in the UK. They are interested in hearing how such a traumatic life changing event such as having your nearest and dearest diagnosed with a brain tumour and how it changes everything. Our faith has played a very important part in this for us and always will.
I am so looking forward to sharing our story. Why not tune in if you are around on Friday 20th April 10am - 11am - HOPE 87.7FM - see you on the airwaves. Have a great day everyone.
I could hardly believe it when the three boxes arrived last Thursday.
I know I'd ordered them, but it still came as a surprise. Each box is sat on the table waiting to be opened and the contents ready to be sent out to the world.
With the excitement welling up inside me I open the first box and there they are, the glossy covers glistening in the spring sunshine pouring through the window.
I gingerly take hold of the first one and a wave of emotion floods through my body. Tears well up and I cannot contain myself. This is the result of many months work. The fruits of my labours are sitting in front of me, and suddenly it's all feeling very real.
I've actually written a book, and it's sitting on my desk.
Now the fun starts, I hurriedly get my husband to take a photo of my and my book and then with it uploaded onto the website, I hit the "Go Live" button.
My first post in social media hits the airwaves and within minutes sales are flooding through and I cannot believe people are actually buying the book.
The very first sale was to a visitor to our offices, she only came in for a will and went home with a personally signed copy of my book.
Within a few days, the book was setup for sale on Amazon in paperback and kindle with further sales being taken.
I cannot tell you how happy this has made me and that the feedback I have received so far has been very positive.
So I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to every one who has bought a copy, downloaded a copy or just sent in good wishes and support.
